Many people I work with describe their previous experiences with therapy as “shallow” or “surface level.” My take is that we’ve got to dig deep to create real change. Freud said it best when he wrote, "Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise."
I have special interests in struggles related to incarceration, masculinity, anger, existentialism, post-traumatic stress, and queer identity. Additionally, as a musician, I enjoy working with people in performance-driven fields, like actors, artists, and athletes.
I think mostly in terms of a modality called relational psychoanalysis; to put it simply, I help people explore the stories they carry about who they are and their place in the world. It's all about getting to the meat and potatoes of it all: the "why" behind what makes us who we are. That means putting into words the parts of ourselves that resist language—what we avoid, suppress, or simply allow ourselves to go on not thinking about. It's hard work, but all the more rewarding for it.
So! Life is short, and you’ve got a life to live—let’s get to it.

Feeling stuck or frustrated? Experiencing difficulties in relationships? Going through a significant life transition like changing your job, welcoming a new baby, or starting graduate school? Therapy can be an enormous support during these times. Together we can uncover the beliefs that drive or limit you.
My primary frameworks are relational, humanistic, and psychoanalytic. Many of the people I work with are struggling in their relationships, processing traumatic events, or going through a life transition. As your therapist, I practice curiosity and compassion while striving to support you through the challenges of being a person in today's society.
